Guided & Semi Guided Maine Whitetail Deer Hunts

Hunting and tracking the elusive giant Whitetail of the Maine woods is one of the greatest challenges in all of North America. Success is all about knowing where they are and where they travel. In this vast wilderness, that means knowing where the "pockets" are, and in particular, knowing the historical buck crossings, travel corridors, and current doe locations. We have learned these areas from years of tracking deer through miles of woods . We will save you days if not weeks of scouting & looking for the Deer.
Owner and Master Maine guide Matt Whitegiver has been hunting Northern New England Whitetails for most of his life. As well as guiding his own neck of the woods in Downeast Maine, he also has guided for Hal Blood of Cedar Ridge Outfitters in Jackman for many years. The picture above is of a deer Matt guided this hunter to while working for Cedar Ridge in 2004. The trophy buck field dressed at 223 lbs. Having tracked this buck numerous times past this very spot, he sent his hunter into it one morning. The buck and hunter arrived there at the exact same time! This seasoned hunter trusted his guide when he told him about this buck and about this consistent crossing.
Eagle Mountain Guide Service specializes in putting hunters in front of bucks whether you are a stand hunter, still hunter or tracker. Hunting Maine requires patience and especially trust that you are hunting where the deer are. As the Fall season takes over the woods, a Maine buck's range grows to nearly 10 sq miles! He doesn't pass by any given stand or blind every day or even every 3 days at times, so you need to trust that we put that stand or built that blind in that spot for a good reason... because we have tracked more than one buck (or the same buck) which led us by that exact spot. The most successful hunters for us has been those who are patient & understand this, whether they are hunting from tree stands or blinds overlooking these buck corridors or still hunting -tracking.
If you have never hunted in the deep woods of Maine, we recommend our guided hunts. If you have hunted Maine before,we encourage you to return and hunt Downeast with us. Muzzleloader season is at the end of our rifle season in December and by then we usually have snow. This is also an excellent time to hunt. Some years, when we have an exceptional mast crop, the bears are still up in Nov and we offer combo deer / bear hunts . Call for details on this exciting hunt.
“Eagle Mountain's Wilderness Lodge is among several hundred thousand acres of permanently conserved lands, with thousands of miles of protected undeveloped lakeshore and stream front. Downeast Lakes Land Trust (www.downeastlakes.org) in Grand Lake Stream leads local efforts in forest conservation, and ensures these lands will always be open for traditional uses and outdoor recreation. Conservation helps you give you a real Wilderness Lodge experience!"
